Dear Rebecca, at first I was hoping you would not read the awful book the colorful apocalypse by Greg Bottoms but now perhaps you should because after speaking with John today at outsiderart.info it seems bottoms has made charges against AVAM that you need to be aware of and they may be libelous. We are compiling a total list of lies in the book to present to Chicago University Press who collaborated with Bottoms to chop our idolatry painting and defuse/obscure portions of it so it would not prove the author a liar on the front cover. I asked John at outsiderart.info to please remove the word pimp from his review but he said it best describes what Bottoms is saying. John did clarify it in his review so that dummies like me would not think it is in the book. There is so much other in the book and I cannot understand why he would attack AVAM saying on page 78 as "folly is as much the commodity as art at AVAM" "folly, madness". Many people have written about my vision without distorting it, yet, he even says Janette was with me on the big island when I saw the vision and that's simply not true. Everything in the book is either made up or colored with his creative nonfiction fiction experimental writing. Its guesswork. Actually, the idolatry painting has nothing to do with the Apocalypse. Now worse than Bottoms appears a comment on the book saying I found God after I had a stroke. Everything ever written about me indicate I joined the church at 13 years old. I have never had a stroke or a broken bone in my life in my many falls. Even the book says that. This Michael Gant from Silicon Valley or at least from Metro-active may not live in Silicon Valley, may be a bottoms neighbor, he takes the scenario of bottoms victim's into another dimension calling us wild. I am sure the waitress in Joy Cafe did not have a ring in her nose. (as Bottoms claims) My wife read the 62 pages and afterwards gave me just one small dirty look because she detected quickly that Bottoms was a joke. She did say maybe you have done too much talking to this man but then she began to seem and be closer to me and defensive seeing that we had all been misrepresented by his book. It is days of victory for me because we have acquired and developed the Art School building next door that the county built in 1967 in a modern style. We have waited these 15 years for it as part of the original land. We will have events on the first floor and I have the entire second floor for art including a gallery of my collection of other great art pieces from the outsider art world. I now have the entire third floor of the mansion for my art and Janette is curator of the new gallery where she has selected what she considers to be presentable works mostly abstracts of color. My main studio is in the 4th floor tower where I have a table 10x16 ft. I still have my 300 ft painting in storage near here as my other large murals also are stored rolled up. I will never have the space to show them here. My life is wonderful but the Bottoms book distorts everything and it is a multitude of lies and deliberate creation of his seemingly deranged mind. Someone said this is common for a person that has been on d-r-u-gs. bottoms leaves no survivors in his path, he takes down everything and everybody yet he does not seem to know his subjects at all. He confuses everything. Some statements in the book are very mean and heartless with intent to not only hurt but also destroy, particularly when he reverses what I say to say something hateful and contradictory. Most of the book is hurtful fabrications.
